About the Designer
Pooja is an award-winning designer currently working as the Design Manager for Hardie Grant Egmont. Before stumbling upon her one true love – publishing – her design career has spanned across packaging, product, magazines, marketing and digital. In her free time, Pooja runs her own freelance business working with NGOs such as Footscray Community Arts Centre, Road to Refuge and Human Rights and Arts Film Festival.

This book is a progressive, feminist bible for pre-teens who menstruate, so the brief was to make the package stand out against its more traditional competition. We worked with production to come up with a small flexi-bound format with flaps that you could hide away but created a design that was so cute that you wouldn’t want to. The design aspiration was to be inviting but not too femme, so I designed a simple typographic cover with a paired back palette, and Kristy designed the internals reminiscent of a Memphis design style to create a fun reading experience.
