Design Rationale

The brief for The Morbids was to sit between literary and commercial with nods to the themes of anxiety and holidays. Glitter was important to the story and I liked the image of a tropical paradise juxtaposed against the dark title. I roughly cut out letters and scanned them, along with loads of glitter – my office was very messy (the final glitter image on the cover is from Getty). First time doing a die-cut cover. Spot UV over the matte laminate to bring out the sparkle in some of the glitter pieces, to express the book’s smart and quirky
