About the Designer
Allison Colpoys is an award-winning designer and illustrator, and the Art Director at Scribe Publications. Her picture books include The Underwater Fancy-dress Parade, Under the Love Umbrella, If All the World Were… and All the Ways To Be Smart. As well as receiving numerous Australian Book Design Awards for her illustration and cover design, she has won the CBCA Crichton Award for Best New Talent and two Australian Book Industry Awards.

This is unique book, the protagonist time travels and spends time chatting to Jerome Cardano, a Milanese of the sixteenth century. Cardano is an astrologer, a gifted physician and the unacknowledged discoverer of the mathematical foundations of quantum physics. My brief was to make the cover ‘as scintillating, mind-expanding and unprecedented as the book!’. Which I am not sure I did, but I really enjoyed working on this cover. There were a lot of themes to draw on from the text. I knew I wanted to create a sense of mystery and portholes into other dimensions with a 16th century
