The brief for Shannon’s 3rd book was for this to be her mass-market title. The design challenge was to create a title that felt approachable, but remained true to Shannon’s gothic aesthetic – potentially giving rise to a new genre for 2021: Mass market gothic or MMG. Nikki To’s stark imagery with little stylistic interference to the food champions Shannon’s dishes and is offset by a minimal recipe design. Eksell Display Typeface was chosen for chapter openers and cover to continue the whole dracula vibe but remain accessible.
